The Vendor Evaluation Product at DaimlerChrysler

This article describes a new analytical approach for vendor evaluation. The work for this project is done by an European consortium, and partially funded by the European Commission. The aim of the project is to provide a close link between Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and latest Data Mining technology. Within this project, we have focused on vendor evaluation which is one of the important tasks within supply chain management. To ensure a wide acceptance among business units the vendor evaluation product has been designed in close co-operation with DaimlerChrysler Aerospace business end users . It enhances the current vendor analysis process by providing new, flexible, and more objective analytical methods. Besides, the vendor evaluation product will help sustaining customer confidence as it proves vendor focused quality assurance activities of DaimlerChrysler Aerospace.
